Brothers Achille and Pier Castiglioni bring their background in architecture and their energetic, functional approach to all of their designs. Born in Italy in 1918 and 1913 respectively, the pair began their own Industrial Design Studio after the second world war, along with a third brother, Livio, who later left the studio to pursue an independent career.
Achille and Pier Castiglioni created most of their now famous designs in partnership with large Italian manufacturers, most notably the lighting company Flos. The brothers also enjoyed a long relationship with Italian design factory Alessi.
Lighting is one of the most important "mood" elements in a room, so make sure you are using diffused light — which this lamp gives off well. Its revolving clear diffuser allows for perfecting the light level and direction.
