Yes, it's pricier than some of the other reproductions you can find online, but you get what you pay for. And it still costs a lot less than the "official" version.
What makes it so special? REAL walnut veneer, for starters (the other versions are cheaper woods just stained walnut). Actual rubber shockmounts (opposed to plastic on the other guys).
It also ships fully assembled, which is why the shipping cost is a little higher than the others -- but it's ready to use right out of the box!

Designed in the early 1940s, the DCW (Dining Chair Wood) was created by Charles and Ray Eames through the creative process of applying heat and pressure to wood veneers. This innovative method gave birth to a virtually seamless chair that adheres to ergonomic standards of the human body.
The plywood series is considered one of the Eames more celebrated designs, with an illustrious history of being seen in upper market interiors and is consequently a permanent part of the collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Q: I've seen this chair elsewhere for much less. What's up with that?
A: They may look like the same chair, but the quality is very different. Mine uses REAL walnut veneer; the competitors use other woods just stained walnut.
Q: Didn't you previously carry a cheaper version?
A: Yes. But the key word here is "cheap." Quality is very important to me, and I wasn't satisfied with the lower cost ones. I'd rather sell fewer of these premium versions and feel better about their quality, than sell more of the cheap ones and worry if my customers will be satisfied.
Q: Shipping seems kind of high, why?
A: These are sent fully assembled, and they come in a big box! Buying more than one does bring the shipping cost down, however, so please contact me and I'll figure out an exact quote.
