Born in 1910, Eero Saarinen was a Finnish American designer who, like many of his contemporaries, became famous for his pre and post war industrial designs. Educated in sculpture at the Academie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, followed by studies at the Yale School of Architecture, he worked from 1940 to 1944 as an architect for the U.S government. In the early 1950s he started his own design firm, which produced acclaimed pieces such as the Tulip Chair, which live on today despite Saarinen’s death in 1961.
This swivel chair is suitable for use in residential or commercial settings, and is the perfect complement to both modern and classic decors. Pair it with a traditional table for an interesting juxtaposition of styles.
